Toe Wrestling

Toe Wrestling is a childhood game which has progressed into the adult sporting markets

The rules for Toe Wrestling are simple.

  • Competitors face eachother barefoot, they interlock their big toes and essentially try to force each other off the 'toedium' (which is similar to an arm wrestling mat)!!!

Toe Wrestling is not a new competition.  It has a history dating back to the 1970's where it originally began in a pub in the United Kingdom and one of the old recorded championships was when the locals of 'Ye Olde Royal Oak Inn' thought it would be a clever idea to hold a toe wrestling competition.  Although this competition was significantly different from the modern equivalent, the similarity lies in the fact that the contestants lock their big toes together and attempted to force their opponent's foot to the ground.

The modern Toe Wrestling championship is now held at the Bentley Brook Inn in the United Kingdom and interestingly the organisers applied for the sport to be included in the Olympic Games in 1997 without success.
